Sir-Mix-A-Lot Joins Former Presidents of the United States of America In
New Band: Subset; 12-Date West Coast Tour Begins in Seattle on March 15
SEATTLE--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Feb. 29, 2000-- Sir-Mix-A-Lot and
former Presidents of the United States of America (POTUS) (sic) announce a
12-date West Coast tour today with their new band, Subset
Subset is comprised of Sir-Mix-A-Lot and former POTUS members
Chris Ballew, Dave Dederer and Jason Finn. Seemingly implausible collaborators, this new assemblage of multi-platinum selling artists
has created a new sound that reaches beyond the sum of its parts. Expect hypnotic funk, bass-heavy rhythms and sobering lyrics.
"Expect to have your ass kicked," laughs Ballew who describes the
Subset collective as darker, harder, and dressed-down. "It's a lot of fun, but a very different feel from the former Presidents' stuff.
Anyone expecting a collection of catchy Presidential ditties will be a bit disappointed until they realize they are grooving so hard they can
hardly stand it."
"We do music because we love it," says Mix. "Subset is four men
who have seen the evils of the record business and were able to escape, asses still intact. Four men who left on their own terms. Four
men re-born, true to the grassroots, and freed from the shackles of pop music."
Subset kicks off a 12-date mini-tour on March 15 at the Fenix
Underground in Seattle, Washington. The tour ends in San Jose, California at The Usual on April 1.
